J1772 to Tesla Charger Adapter | 250V | 60A
J1772 to Tesla Charger Adapter | 250V | 60A
J1772 to Tesla Charging Adapter 250V · 60A
Expand your Tesla AC charging options with a compact adapter that connects a standard SAE J1772 charging plug to a compatible Tesla / NACS vehicle charging port — ideal for public Level 2 stations, workplace chargers, hotels and supported home chargers.
Up to 60A AC Charging
Rated for up to 60 amps and 250 volts AC, with a manufacturer listed maximum of approximately 14.4kW when used on a compatible 240V charging source.
Plug-and-Charge Convenience
Insert the J1772 charging handle into the adapter, then plug the Tesla / NACS end into the vehicle charge port — no software configuration or permanent vehicle modification required.
Secure J1772 Latch
The integrated mechanical latch helps retain the J1772 charging connector during use, while the included dust cap protects exposed contacts when the adapter is stored.
More Places to AC Charge Your Tesla
Connect your Tesla to compatible J1772 chargers found at hotels, workplaces, parking facilities and other public Level 2 charging locations.
The adapter can also be used with compatible home AC charging equipment equipped with an SAE J1772 connector.
The body is made from high-strength PC material for a compact, impact-resistant exterior suitable for regular charging and travel use.
Manufacturer specifications identify silver-plated contact pins designed to support stable electrical conductivity under normal rated operation.
Small enough to keep with your everyday charging equipment so a J1772 station is less likely to become a missed charging opportunity.
Direction Matters
Correct:
J1772 Charging Station → Adapter → Tesla / NACS Vehicle
Not Supported:
Tesla / NACS Charger → Adapter → J1772 Vehicle
J1772 In — Tesla / NACS Out
Vehicle-Specific Connector Conversion
One side accepts the standard North American J1772 charging handle while the opposite side interfaces with the Tesla / NACS AC charging inlet.
Tesla Vehicle Compatibility
Current product documentation explicitly lists Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Roadster.
Manufacturer lists compatibility with J1772 Level 1 AC charging sources operating around 120V.
Designed for J1772 Level 2 stations up to the adapter's 250V / 60A electrical rating.
Not compatible. This is an AC J1772 adapter and does not convert a DC Supercharger connection.
Not supported. CCS1 fast charging requires a dedicated CCS1-to-NACS DC adapter and compatible vehicle hardware.
The current third-party product compatibility list names Model S, 3, X, Y and Roadster but does not specifically list Cybertruck. This page therefore does not guarantee Cybertruck compatibility without confirmation.
Plug In and Start AC Charging
Before charging, confirm that the adapter, pins and charging connector are clean, dry and free from visible damage.
Push the J1772 charging handle fully into the adapter until the mechanical latch is properly engaged.
Open the vehicle charge port and insert the Tesla / NACS end of the adapter completely into the charging inlet.
Verify the charging status on the Tesla center screen or Tesla app before leaving the vehicle.
Actual charging current is determined by the J1772 station, vehicle onboard charger and adapter. A 60A adapter rating does not force the vehicle to charge at 60A.
End the charging session, unlock the vehicle charge port if required, remove the adapter and J1772 handle, then reinstall the dust cap before storage.
Charging power is limited by the lowest-rated component in the complete charging path, including the charging station, the Tesla's onboard AC charger and the adapter itself.

Quick Answers
Which direction does this adapter work? +
It allows a J1772 charging handle to connect to a compatible Tesla / NACS vehicle. It does not allow a Tesla charger to charge a J1772-only vehicle.
What Tesla models are currently listed as compatible? +
Current manufacturer documentation explicitly lists Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Roadster.
Does this page guarantee Cybertruck compatibility? +
No. Cybertruck is not explicitly listed in the current third-party compatibility table, so compatibility should be confirmed before ordering for Cybertruck.
Can I use it at a J1772 Level 2 charger? +
Yes. Level 2 J1772 AC charging is the primary intended use of this adapter.
Can I use it at a Tesla Supercharger? +
No. This is an AC J1772 adapter and cannot be used for Tesla Supercharger DC fast charging.
Can it be used at a CCS1 fast charger? +
No. CCS1 DC charging requires a different adapter designed specifically for high-voltage DC fast charging.
Will my Tesla always charge at 60A? +
No. 60A is the adapter's maximum rating. Actual current is limited by the J1772 station, the vehicle's onboard AC charger and the vehicle's charging settings.
Does 60A mean the adapter is faster than Tesla's factory J1772 adapter? +
No such comparison is made here. Tesla's current official J1772 adapter is advertised for charging speeds up to 19.2kW, so the older claim that the factory adapter is limited to 48A should not be used as a current product comparison.
Why is the maximum power listed as 14.4kW if the adapter says 250V / 60A? +
250V is the published maximum voltage rating. The manufacturer lists 14.4kW based on a typical 240V Level 2 supply: 240V × 60A = 14.4kW.
Does it require installation or vehicle coding? +
No permanent installation or coding is required. It is a removable plug-and-play charging adapter.
What is the adapter made from? +
Current manufacturer specifications list a high-strength PC housing and silver-plated conductive contacts.
Does it have a locking mechanism? +
Yes. The J1772 side includes an integrated mechanical latch designed to help keep the charging handle securely connected.
Is an IP waterproof rating published? +
No verified IP rating is currently published for this exact adapter, so this description does not invent an IP44, IP54 or IP65 rating.
What comes in the box? +
The current package contains one J1772 to Tesla charging adapter.
