Electric Frunk System for Model S | Hands-Free Automatic Opener
Electric Power Frunk System for Tesla Model S
Upgrade your Model S front trunk from manual operation to powered opening and closing with dual electric struts, soft-close suction locking, multiple factory-integrated control methods and built-in anti-pinch protection.
Fully Powered Open & Close
Twin electric struts replace the manual support function and provide controlled motorized movement in both opening and closing directions.
Soft-Close Suction Lock
The electric struts lower the hood while a dedicated soft-close suction latch pulls it securely into the final closed position.
Anti-Pinch Protection
Resistance detection monitors the closing movement and is designed to stop and reverse the hood when abnormal resistance is detected.
Seven Ways to Control Your Frunk
Use the supported vehicle app interface to remotely command the powered frunk.
Control the front trunk from the compatible Tesla center-screen vehicle interface.
Compatible vehicles can use the existing Tesla key remote as one of the frunk-control methods.
Supported Siri Shortcuts provide a voice-based control option when properly configured.
Additional supported methods include Apple Watch, a physical button inside the frunk and pressure-sensing close activation.
Not an “Approach-to-Open” Sensor
The current manufacturer specification lists Tesla App, touchscreen, key fob, Siri, Apple Watch, internal button and pressure sensing. It does not currently list automatic opening simply because a person approaches the vehicle.
Engineered for Everyday Powered Operation
Controlled Powered Movement
Dual electric struts manage the hood movement while the dedicated powered latch completes the final closing step.
Key System Functions
Manufacturer describes the powered struts as reinforced aluminum-alloy assemblies designed for repeated operation.
Manufacturer-listed deep-sleep standby current is below 1 mA when the vehicle is parked.
Current TESKAY imagery and the main manufacturer feature section identify the control unit as IP65 rated.
The current manufacturer feature section lists IP65 while its package-content section separately says IP67. Because the two values conflict, this description uses the more conservative IP65 rating.
Model S-Specific Plug-and-Play Installation
Select the correct 2017–2020 or 2022–Present kit before installation. The current product selector does not list 2021.
Remove the necessary frunk trim according to the supplied installation instructions to reach the strut, latch and wiring areas.
Fit the left and right electric strut assemblies using the supplied model-specific brackets and mounting hardware.
Install and align the powered suction-lock assembly so the hood closes and latches correctly without forcing panel alignment.
Route and connect the supplied main-power and signal harnesses according to the installation guide. Cutting or splicing factory wiring is not specified.
Check powered opening, powered closing, soft-close latching, anti-pinch response, control methods and emergency release before reinstalling all trim panels.
Current manufacturer instructions specify no wire cutting, no wire splicing and no drilling into the metal body. The kit uses model-specific brackets, existing mounting locations and dedicated electrical connectors.
The system combines powered struts, latch alignment, electrical connections and safety calibration. The manufacturer lists an average installation time of approximately 1–2 hours for an experienced installer.
The current Tesery and TESKAY selectors list 2017–2020 and 2022–Present only. A 2021 Model S should therefore be confirmed by VIN before ordering rather than being assigned to either version automatically.

Quick Answers
Does this current product fit Model S or Model X? +
This current product page is for Model S. The old URL still contains “Model X S,” but Model X now has a separate dedicated kit.
Which Model S years are currently listed? +
Current choices are Model S 2017–2020 and Model S 2022–Present.
What if I have a 2021 Model S? +
The current selector does not list 2021. Confirm the VIN and vehicle configuration before ordering instead of assuming either version will fit.
Does the system both open and close the frunk automatically? +
Yes. This is a full powered opening and closing system, not only an electric latch or soft-close lock.
What is the soft-close suction lock? +
During closing, the powered struts lower the hood and the electric suction latch pulls it through the final portion into the fully latched position.
Can I control it from the Tesla app? +
Yes. Tesla App integration is one of the current manufacturer-listed control methods.
Can I use the Tesla touchscreen? +
Yes. The current system lists center-screen vehicle control as one of its supported activation methods.
Does it automatically open when I walk up to the car? +
Automatic proximity opening is not listed in the current manufacturer control specification. The listed methods are app, touchscreen, key fob, Siri/voice, Apple Watch, internal button and pressure-sensing close.
Does it have anti-pinch protection? +
Yes. The manufacturer describes resistance detection that stops and reverses the hood when an obstacle is detected during powered closing.
Can I set the opening height? +
Yes. The current product specification includes a memorized preset opening-height function.
What happens if the vehicle low-voltage battery is dead? +
The kit includes an emergency mechanical release cable so the frunk can still be manually released when electrical operation is unavailable.
Does installation require cutting factory wires? +
No. The current manufacturer describes the wiring installation as plug-and-play with no cutting or splicing.
Does installation require drilling? +
The current installation specification states that drilling into the vehicle's metal body is not required.
Is professional installation recommended? +
Yes. Professional installation is recommended, particularly because correct strut mounting, powered-latch alignment, harness routing and functional testing are important to reliable operation.
